My Visitor Counter
Discovering the Addictive Charm of Flag Counter: Tracking Visitors on My Multiply Website
As someone who prides themselves on being an expert in certain areas, I must confess that I am also an amateur when it comes to many things. And yes, I'm a Multiply newbie.
It has only been a few weeks since I set up my Multiply site and started advertising our services online. Until recently, I never really considered posting on the internet. Most of our customers came through referrals, walk-ins, or were relatives. However, when I created my site, I realized the importance of monitoring website traffic to gauge its effectiveness.
That's when I stumbled upon the Flag Counter. Its tagline caught my attention: "Plain Old Hit Counters Are Boring. You Need A FREE Flag Counter!" Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to give it a try.
After installing the Flag Counter, I found myself hooked, or perhaps I should say addicted, to see if there were new flags displayed on my site. I even emailed and messaged people I knew in different countries, urging them to visit my website so their flags would be added. One notable example was my former boss, JRS, who currently works in Bahrain. I texted him and shared my Multiply website. Before long, his flag appeared. It was undeniably cool.
The Flag Counter offers more than just flags. It also provides a summary of all the flags in both graph and table formats. I found this feature fascinating and enjoyed analyzing the data.
There is also a forum where members can seek help regarding the Flag Counter or even ask for other members to visit their websites, thus increasing their flag collections. I must admit, I shamelessly begged for visitors like crazy. It's amazing how the desire to accumulate more flags can awaken the competitive spirit within us.
Another aspect I appreciate about this counter is that it retains the total hits counter. This means that while the system only adds unique hits to the flag count, it still keeps track of overall page views. Consequently, when you compare the number of flags to the page views, you'll notice that the page views are significantly higher.
Upon analyzing the graph, I observed a sudden influx of visitors to my site last Saturday. This coincided with me sending out invitations to multiple members to add me as a Business Contact. However, the traffic decreased the following Sunday. It's intriguing to see how certain actions can impact website visits.
For a free service, I couldn't ask for anything more from the Flag Counter. However, my obsessive-compulsive side couldn't help but explore the Flag Counter Pro. This upgraded version offers additional features such as custom flag sets, detailed statistics, and the ability to export data. It certainly seems enticing, and perhaps when I create my own website, I will consider upgrading to the Pro version. But for now, I am content enjoying the free Flag Counter service on my Multiply website.
Join me in my journey as I track visitors, collect flags, and embrace the addictive charm of the Flag Counter. It has certainly added excitement to monitoring website traffic and has become an essential tool in enhancing my online presence.
